We all know that there really aren’t any believers south of the border when it comes to the Raptors. Much the dismay of the fans, the team mostly been put on hold by American media outlets, but their Game 1 win along with Cleveland’s loss may have turned a few heads in the land of the free. It shouldn’t have, because the Raps are a 1 seed and the Cavs a 4, but it apparently it did, particularly at ESPN.

On his podcast today, Zach Lowe left a great anecdote about a message that the company’s employees received after the weekend regarding the potential of an NBA Finals in Canada. The brief re-telling begins at around 8:25 of today’s Lowe Post with Dan Devine of Yahoo! Sports.

“The Raptors win game 1. The Cavaliers get shellacked. About 12 hours after that, all of ESPN’s staff and talent get an e-mail saying ‘make sure your passports haven’t expired just in case Toronto makes the Finals.”

Alright, alright. Let’s not get carried away with this little story from Lowe. Wait… who am I kidding? Check that passport, Mike Breen!
