Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports that the Toronto Raptors could have interest in the former Charlotte Hornets lottery pick. The Hornets declined Bismack Biyombo‘s qualifying offer making him an unrestricted free agent.
This move isn’t too much of a shock considering their recent acquisition of Spencer Hawes and their apparent infatuation with Wisconsin product and #9 overall pick Frank Kaminsky.
Biyombo, for all of his limitations including his inability to score the basketball does serve the obvious need of being an above average rim protector on a Raptors team that hasn’t had one in eons. He averaged 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks this past season.
He’ll be only 23 by the time training camp rolls around, the same age as the teams’ #20 pick Delon Wright so it could be a true buy low situation.
