Will Cherry and Jordan Hamilton have been cut from the Toronto Raptors. It’s hard to argue that keeping Greg Stiemsma wasn’t the right choice.
While Hamilton showed some solid scoring off the bench at times, Cherry was quite awful for the majority of the pre-season. With that being said, neither of them were particularly needed when it comes down to positional fit. The point guard position is the Raptors’ strongest, and the wing surely isn’t lacking firepower.
While Stiemer isn’t likely to be a rotational player, he certainly provides insurance at a position where the Raptors are the thinnest. The only true centers on the roster are Jonas Valanciunas and Chuck Hayes. Stiemsma gives that length off the bench and should be used nicely in certain situations.
