Sources have indicated today that Bryan Colangelo will be brought back to the MLSE organization, moving over to the business side of the organization. He will have little control over the operations of the Toronto Raptors and the MLSE is still pursuing Masai Ujiri to take over that role.
This seems like a best of both worlds situation for the BC supporters and, well, non-supporters.The MLSE gets a pretty smart, well presented business man to stay with the organization however he doesn’t have any more control to “screw up the franchise”. For Colangelo, he will still get to see his plan come to life, and will likely still advise the new GM. And who knows, another franchise may want him as GM, so he may not be with the MLSE for too long.
Sources have also indicated that Tim Leweike does NOT want this, however it is very likely that Larry Tanenbaum initiated this. Ujiri is going to receive a huge offer as well, apparently. It will be interesting to see who takes over as GM, however the majority of Raptors fans can rest easy as it will not be Bryan Colangelo.
