July 17th- Raptors officially buy out Marcus Camby

After being acquired from the New York Knicks, the Toronto Raptors plan to buy out the 38 year old centre Marcus Camby from the final two years of his contract. We already assumed this, but now it’s a done deal. The Raptors now have 13 players on their roster.

July 16th- Raptors to use amnesty on Linas Kleiza

After speculation of holding on to Linas Kleiza as a possible trade piece, according to Yahoo Sports, the Toronto Raptors have decided to amnesty the Lithuanian forward.

July 12th – Raptors not signing Stone?

Apparently, Julyan Stone did not pass his physical, therefore the Raptors did not sign him. Now it makes much more sense that the Raptors signed Buycks, because I didn’t see the sense in having two back-up inexperienced point guards. One roster spot is now open for another, more experienced guard.

July 12th- Raptors Sign Bill Bayno

The Raptors haves signed Bill Bayno as an assistant coach to be a part of Dwane Casey’s staff. He was previously in Minnesota.

July 12th – Raptors sign… Dwight Buycks?

The Raptors signed this guy.

July 10th – Bargnani deal official

RaptorsMR tweeted this: Trade w/ @Knicks is done. #Raptors receive Camby, Novak, Richardson, 2016 1st round pick & 2nd round picks in’14 & ’17 for Bargnani .

July 9th – Raps sign Tyler Hansbrough

The Raptors signed forward Tyler Hansbrough to a two-year deal.

July 9th – Nick Nurse officially announced as assistant

Offensive specialist and D-league standout Nick Nurse has been officially announced as an assistant coach to Casey. Will also coach summer league team.

July 9th – Kleiza anticipating amnesty?

According to reports, Linas Kleiza is prepared to go back to Europe if the Raptors amnesty him. Seems like a very good possibility.

July 9th – Raps offer Brandan Wright a contract

The Raptors have apparently offered Brandan wright a contract, ‘guaranteeing’ him at least 24 minutes per game.

July 9th – Raps not dealing DeRozan?

According to Sam Amico (not sure how legit), the Raps are not looking to deal DeMar DeRozan.

July 6th- Camby officially asks for trade or buyout

Nothing we didn’t know, but now it’s pretty much a done deal :Camby has requested a trade or buyout according to Marc Berman. Should be illegal quite frankly – the Raps were going to do it anyway but that’s besides the point. Good riddance.

Update: according to his agent, “We are working collaboratively with the Raptors to end up in a situation that works for everyone.” That’s cute.

July 5th – Raptors pursuing Brandan Wright

The Raptors are one of the teams apparently interested in signing Dallas Mavericks power forward Brandan Wright, one of the options we suggested.

July 4th- Raps sign Julyan Stone

Came out of nowhere, but Masai reunites with another Nugget.

July 3rd- Raps add some more staff

The Toronto Raptors officially announced Dan Tolzman as director of scouting, and Teresa Resch as director of basketball operations. Masai is truly completing a full overhaul – culture change is important and it starts from the staff.

July 2nd – Pistons make (pathetic) bid for Rudy Gay

The Pistons offered a package of Charlie Villanueva and Rodney Stuckey for Rudy Gay. Both expiring offers, but quite frankly, this makes me laugh. If Masai does choose to pursue it, it might make me cry.

UPDATE – the Raptors have quickly rejected the offer, said there is no way they pursue a deal that gives them virtually nothing for Gay. Also, Chris Broussard of ESPN says the Raptors are NOT looking to get rid of Gay.

July 2nd – Raptors pursuing Vassilis Spanoulis

This may or may not be true, but he was the Euroleague MVP, is a point guard, and looks at lot like Jose Calderon. Should be interesting if the Raps do pursue this.

July 2nd – Raptors officially name Jeff Weltman VP

Old news, but it was made official. He will be the vice president of basketball operations, helping out Ujiri. Highly touted exec – solid move.

July 1st – The Raptors could have had David Lee instead?

Apparently, the Golden State Warriors are interested in dumping Lee’s horrendous contract, and would have taken Bargnani back. Again, didn’t happen thankfully.

June 30th – Bargnani dealt to Knicks

He’s really gone. Bargnani was dealt to the New York Knicks for Steve Novak, Quentin Richardson, Marcus Camby, a first round pick in 2016, and two future second round picks. It won’t be official until July 10th. Richardson and Camby will likely be bought out or dealt, but once everything is official we will update you. Click for best of Bargnani.

June 29th – Clippers interested in DeRozan, Bargnani

The Raptors were apparently in the running for Eric Bledsoe. Didn’t happen, thankfully.

June 28th – John Lucas III won’t be back

Masai decided that Lucas wasn’t worthy of the third-string point guard spot. Fair enough.

June 27th – Raps don’t trade into draft

This was somewhat surprising, but the right move by Masai Ujiri.

June 26th- Bryan Colangelo steps down as president, completely removed from organization.

Well, damn. The BC era is officially over. Officially.

June 26th – Raptors show interest in Chris Copeland

Knicks player – ok stretch four option, nothing special. Not sure if this was even true

June 25th – Raptors hire Nick Nurse as assistant coach

The Raptors signed offensive D-League standout coach to assist Casey. Thank goodness.

June 24th – Raptors interested in signing Gal Mekel

This one obviously didn’t come true, with Mekel joining the Dallas Mavericks.

June 19th – Raps hire some new staff, confirm Casey as coach

The Raptors hired cap expert (who worked with the NBA league office) Bobby Webster, as well as new scouting director Dan Tolzman from the Nuggets (fitting). It was also announced that Dwane Casey will be brought back.
