GAL MEKEL 4893

The Toronto Raptors are one of multiple teams potentially interested in bringing Israeli stud PG Gal Mekel to an NBA roster.

Makel, 25, has caught the eyes of many scouts after a fantastic performance against the Euroleague powerhouse Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv, as well as some great workouts for various NBA teams.

To me, Mekel seems like a traditional European point guard. Solid passer, good ball handling, and does all the little things correctly. This certainly wouldn’t be a bad signing as a back-up point guard, especially with the considerably large hole the Raps have there.

This tells me that Masai Ujiri has started to shift his focus onto scouting for players, something he absolutely loves doing. And given his stellar track record, I’m going to trust that this guy will be a solid pick-up. If there are any European followers, please enlighten us on Mekel in the comments below.

  1. Call me stupid, but I didn’t see that guy playing in Euroleague. Gal plays for Haifa Maccabi, while the only club from Israel which plays in Euroleague is Tel Aviv Maccabi
