After a heartbreaking loss to the Wizards just a few days ago, the Toronto Raptors were able to bounce back with a solid victory against a very good Golden State Warriors ball club. The Raptors got their revenge this afternoon, after blowing a 27-point lead in their previous contest. Toronto started Landry Fields in place of Terrence Ross and provided a professional performance, demonstrating the importance of always being ready. The Raps came away with a 104-98 victory dishing out 28 team assists in contest that saw the lead change 21 times. In a losing effort, Stephen Curry didn’t disappoint his fans by pouring in 34pts and 7ast during his lone trip to the Air Canada Centre. The Raptors improve their record to 33-26 holding on to third place in conference. This game was big, but the next one is arguably just as important as Raptors play the Sacramento Kings on Friday.

Offence:  A

Tonight the Raps came out like gangbusters, shooting light’s out in the first half. The Raptors had success going inside early on, Jonas Valanciunas dominated early finishing the first half 5/5FG, but cooled off for the rest of the game as Golden State locked in. Toronto’s offence for the most part was dominated by DeMar DeRozan, but it was team basketball, ball-movement and getting to the line that won Toronto the game.

Defence: A

Toronto did their best to contain Steph Curry, but he still managed to put up big numbers, like the number of shots and turnovers he had. However the Raptors for the most part limited the productivity of Curry’s supporting cast holding them to under 40% shooting for the game, while as a team the Warriors shot 42%. Toronto did a great job of suffocating Curry by collapsing their defence allowing for someone else to make a play. The Raptors were able to keep the high octane Warriors below 100 pts and in my books, that’s a bonus. Once again the Raptors showed their 4th quarter resilience by taking control of the game defensively down the stretch.

Rebounding: B

The Warriors dominated the offensive glass, pulling down 16 for the night. Toronto got some crucial rebounds late in the game large in part to the hustle of Patrick Patterson and Tyler Hansborough. The Raps were out-rebounded 41-39, hopefully this week of practice will get their positioning back in check.

Game Ball: DeMar DeRozan

DeMar DeRozan gets the game ball after finishing the game with 32pts 6ast and going 10-11 from the free throw line. He was able to take control of this game early on by coming out and hitting some difficult shots in the first half. Klay Thompson had problems all afternoon, picking up his fifth foul with more than five minutes left in the 3rd. When DeMar’s shot wasn’t falling, he was able to readjust and get to the line, over and over. Overall, another solid performance by Toronto’s All-Star.
