Heading into the trade deadline there was a lot of buzz surrounding the point guard position on the Toronto Raptors. Kyle Lowry is still a Raptor, but today the team added yet another point guard to their roster by acquiring the 6’5 Nando De Colo from the San Antonio Spurs. In exchange the Raptors send the sparsely used small forward, Austin Daye.

Say it with me people…NANDOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

De Colo is a player who’s greatest ability is passing the ball. If you thought Greivis Vasquez was a crafty player, wait until you see De Colo’s skills. He’s a solid ball handler, who’s able to play both guard positions standing 6’5; his jump-shot has good mechanics and he’s coming out of the Greg Popovich system. De Colo is 26 years old and was drafted in 2009, however this only in his second year in the NBA.

I look forward to what Nando De Colo will bring to this roster. De Colo this season has been averaging 4.3ppg 1.7reb 1.2ast and 81% from the charity stripe. In San Antonio  De Colo didn’t have the chance to play with the same type of athletes as the Raptors.

Hopefully he was acquired to compete with Vasquez and gets the opportunity to show his game. If he’s able to get some burn, De Colo can bring everything that Vasquez can; the flashy passing and even the inconsistent shooting. However De Colo will also bring a great motor, a better crossover and faster legs which he’ll hopefully use for defensive purposes.

With that being said, welcome to Toronto Nando De Colo. Thanks for giving me another fun name to yell when watching the game.

Also, here is the best of Austin Daye as a Raptor:

Exactly.
