uspw_7072580As per Yahoo! Sports, the Toronto Raptors will likely pursue Golden State Warriors power forward Carl Landry if he opts out of his contract. Landry has a player option, and there hasn’t been much word as to whether he will opt out or not.

The Raps will likely be pursuing a veteran, scoring power forward this offseason and Landry fits that bill. This will almost guarantee Andrea Bargnani being moved, and would set up the Raptors frontcourt for years to come.

He currently makes 4 million dollars this year, and can opt out of making that next year. I would expect him to opt out and aim for a higher pay day, because his current production likely warrants that. Expect an offer of around 6-7 million/year to be put on the table fro the Raps, and I wouldn’t be surprised if other teams offer him that as well.

However, I’m not sure if this is the best player to pursue for the Raps. He’s only 6’9, already 29 years old, and will never amount to that number one post scorer the Raps need. He currently averages nearly 11 points and 6 boards and I don’t know if he’s getting any better than that. I’m hoping Bryan Colangelo (or whoever the GM this offseason is) goes for a bigger target (see Paul Milsap).
