The Toronto Raptors announced that they will be using a special logo for their 20th anniversary season, which is the 2014-15 campaign. The logo is supposed to reflect the team’s history, and incorporates elements of the purple, the Raptor claw, and old text.

It is unclear whether this will be the official logo for the season, or if they will use it as an alternate. Furthermore, it is unclear whether their jersey’s and the arena design will reflect this. What we know right now is that a variation of the logo will be worn on the jerseys as a patch. Additionally, it is clear that the purple throwback jersey’s will be coming, as reported earlier.  Regardless, it is evident that this is only going to be the logo for next season, and might end up being a transitional logo used to make headway for the fresh, new design.

“This anniversary logo embodies the excitement of both the future and the past of Raptors basketball, but most importantly, it reminds us of the success and history we’re working to create here,” said Tim Leiweke, President and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. “The next year promises to be one of the most important yet in team history as we celebrate the Raptors’ 20th Anniversary, but also prepare for the chance to welcome the world with the 2016 NBA All Star Game.”

The 20th Anniversary logo will be prominently featured in franchise creative for 2014-15 and a variation of the logo will be worn as a patch on the team’s home uniforms next season. The club will announce details at later dates regarding unique 20th Anniversary events to be held throughout the 2014-15 campaign.
