In a hard fought game to close out the first half of the season the Toronto Raptors defeat the Washington Wizards 95-93. With that victory the Raptors sweep the season series against John Wall and the Wizards. The game was tight for entire 48 minutes, with the Raptors trailing by as much as 10 points in the fourth. Lou Williams continues to make the case for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award by leading all scorers with 27 points off the bench. In the absence of Bradley Beal, Paul Pierce stepped up in a big way for the Wizards on both ends of the court before getting iced by DeMar DeRozan with game winning shot. The Raptors now head into a much deserved break and won’t see action until next week Friday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Offence: B-

Against a tough nosed Wizards ball club the Raptors weren’t able to get many easy shots tonight. Every bucket made, was earned tonight. The Raptors were only able to shoot 40.8% from the floor, but still managed to come up with a win. Kyle Lowry and DeRozan combined to shoot only 11/30 from the floor tonight but countered that by getting to the foul line 26 times. Hopefully the time off will get some of these gentlemen their legs back.

Defence: B+

The defence from Toronto was solid tonight. The Wizards present a tough matchup at nearly every position until they start reaching into their bench. The starters for the Wizards carried the load as expected, but Toronto was able to force Washington to commit 16 turnovers. Another key to winning this game was the collection of errors by Drew Gooden III, who was in control the final few Wizards possessions. The Raptors next test is a ways away, but you better believe that Atlanta team will be prepared for the Raptors.

Rebounding: C

The Raptors got bullied on the glass tonight against the Wizards. Washington out-rebounded Toronto 50-37. Washington had a gang rebounding mentality that allowed them to pull in 15 offensive boards; controlling the pace of the game with their second chance opportunities. Jonas Valanciunas finished the game with 16 minutes and 0 fouls and 5 rebounds.

Game Ball: Lou Williams

NBA: Washington Wizards at Toronto RaptorsThe Raptors Cage game ball could’ve very well went to DeMar DeRozan for his composure and his heroics to win the game. However, Mr. Lou Williams was the catalyst to a late Toronto run that helped get the team back in the game. Lou Williams finished the game with 27 points on 8/16 shooting.
