According to sources, the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls are in discussions to swap bigmen Carlos Boozer and Andrea Bargnani. The Raptors would need to include other plays to make salaries match, most likely Linas Kleiza or Landry Fields.

These discussions come at the helm of acquiring Rudy Gay’s large contract.  Raptors General Manager Bryan Colangelo has made it no secret that he is still looking to make more moves before the February 21st trade deadline.

The Raptors need a true low-post presence and Boozer would definitely do that. He is also an elite rebounder and solid play maker from the post.  However, he is a below average defender and has a ton of money left on his contract. Two years and about $32 million left to be exact. That is just a lot of salary for the Raptors to swallow.

In my opinion, the Raptors would need to acquire a draft pick from the Bulls in order for this to be fair. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Colangelo is trying to pry a point guard from the Bulls, possibly rookie Marquis Teague.

Nevertheless, the Raptors continue to be in trade talks so don’t be surprised to see some kind of move before February 21st.
