Music is one of the most powerful forces in the world. It influences our mood beyond ways we even understand. It infiltrates our thoughts more often than we even realize it. That’s why, in difficult times, it can even feel therapeutic.
With the world going through the COVID-19 pandemic which has heavily affected life for everyone, it feels like a cloud of depression which won’t fade away for the foreseeable future has hung over us. In a time like this, it seems like we all need some positivity just to keep moving on with our daily lives.
With most sporting events, entertainment events, and even restaurants and bars closing down, finding that positivity is not easy, but we can find some happiness right at the touch of our fingertips, right on our phones.
This morning, Charles Monterozza, better known by his stage name, Classik, began to use his platform to remind people of Canada of all the great things in life. Classik is a Toronto based rap-artist, and today he dropped a hip-hop track titled, The Chip, as a tribute to the Toronto Raptors’ 2019 historic championship run.
“This team has introduced such a powerful, confident energy to the city which has brought people together in a colossal way. I wanted to channel that energy into a track that everyone can relate to and enjoy,” Classik said.
Acknowledging the Coronavirus that has had its impact on basketball too, he stated, “Of course it’s disappointing to have to press pause on the season, but it’s necessary, and hey, let’s look at it as n extension to our first year as champions and keep the good vibes flowing so we can come back hard and make it a repeat.”
Classik certainly gives basketball fans a positive outlook on the situation with regards to the NBA hiatus, however obviously, this runs deeper than basketball. It’s imperative for everyone to put their health and safety first during this time.
