With the Toronto Raptors slated to face the Sacramento Kings this evening, some familiar faces are bound to pop up. Many are anticipating the head-to-head matchup between Rudy Gay and DeMar DeRozan, or even the rarest of rare Aaron Gray sightings. However I’ll be looking out for someone else in this matchup; Quincy Acy.
Quincy Acy, or “Q” as some would call him was a Toronto Raptor for a very brief time. Drafted in the second round out of Baylor University, the 6’6 forward looked to provide the toughness and rebounding that the Raptors so desperately required. When brought in, he was thought to be the second coming of former Raptor and fan favourite Reggie Evans, yet their game is entirely different. Acy is a better athlete than Evans, Acy is a better offensive player than Evans and Acy now has a better beard than Evans. For the most part, Acy was a project player; spending most of his time between the D-League and the end of the Raptors’ bench.
Acy’s minutes were extremely limited during his tenure as a Raptor, but he provided the bench with personality and charisma that has long been absent since the days JYD suited up. It was very sad to see him dealt, and based on that episode of Open Gym, there there was a serious emotional connection between Q and Toronto. Maybe we’ll see Quincy in a Raptors jersey sometime down the road, but until that time we can only remember the times we’ve shared together.
So, without further a due, here’s the best of Quincy Acy aka Q as a Toronto Raptor.
Shoutout to TdotRaptorsTV for making this Quincy Acy mix. It basically sums up everything Acy did when he got minutes. Which is make highlights!
